Covergirl- 'Divine'

Happy Friday!
I have another lippie for you guys today.
I'm typically a Maybelline/Lime Crime fan when it comes to lipsticks,
but occasionally i'll buy one from Covergirl.

The idea behind buying this one was that it looked to be like
Lime Crime's 'Airborne Unicorn' from the other day,
and it was be neat to find a dupe for it that's affordable!

SO, here's 'Divine'.

but...
*sunlight*
*indoor light*

Though it IS a purple,
it's more of a plum with dark fuchsia undertones.
Turns out it is NOT a dupe for 'Airborne Unicorn',
but i still quite liked it!

Cocktail Makeup Series- Margarita!

Hellooooooo.
Hope you all had a safe and fun Memorial Day yesterday,
for those of you who live in the US :)

Today i'm continuing my cocktail makeup series with a personal summer favorite of mine-
margaritas!

Based on the lovely greens and yellows of this drink,
here's my look!

I used:
Too Faced's Shadow Insurance
NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in 'Milk'
BFTE 'Lemon', & 'Envy- lid
BFTE 'Green Apple'- crease

I'm seriously in love with the BFTE rainbow sampler I bought fairly recently.
All the shadows in it are so bright & pigmented,
with just the right amount of sparkle :)

What do you think about this look?
Do you have an idea for a cocktail for my series?
Let me know in a comment :)

Lush Lacquer- 'Hello Sunshine'

blehhhhh so let me first apologize at the atrocity that are my nails right now.
Moving and stress have not been kind to them,
and they are nubs again :(
I don't really want to do any nail posts for a bit until they grow back,
but I had to go ahead and post this pretty baby.

It was such a sunny day outside today that I knew it was time for
'Hello Sunshine' from Lush Lacquer!
Here is 3 coats.

'Hello Sunshine' is a milky white base filled with pink, coral, and orange medium hex glitters, large squares, and bar glitter. I LOVE IT. It's very summery and fun,
and the color combo definitely reminds of the beach or being poolside, for some reason :)

POLISH INFORMATION
Brand: Lush Laquer
Type: Glitter

Opacity (1-5): 2-3

Game of Thrones makeup series- The Unsullied

So today's look isn't about a particular person or House,
but rather about an instrumental group of people as far as Dany is concerned- the Unsullied.
This is an army of slaves that she acquired from Astapor.
Saying they're committed to fighting for her until death is an understatement.

Their tan skin and bronze armor is what inspired this look.

Annnnnd here's the look:

I used (all Urban Decay):
Primer Potion
24/7 Glide On pencil in 'Bourbon'- crease
'Mute' & 'M.I.A.'- crease
'Chase', 'Deeper', & 'Armor'- lid
'Anonymous'- brow bone

So although I like this look,
it didn't quite translate how I wanted it.
I wanted to make it angular, strong, and precise- just like the Unsullied.
But it wasn't quite as bold as I wanted it to be,
and the angle I used in the crease didn't really pan out.

Thus, it just looks like a brown smokey eye :/
Oh well.
Better luck next time, hopefully.

What do you guys think?

Cocktail Makeup Series- Strawberry (or watermelon?) Daiquiri

Hey everyone!
Today I have the second look of my cocktail makeup series for you :)
Awhile ago, I asked on my fb what your favorite cocktail was,
and someone suggested a strawberry daiquiri- so that's what I went for.

However, after I finished with it, I couldn't decide if the colors made it look more like
a watermelon than strawberry? :/
Either way, here it is!

I used:
Too Faced's Shadow Insurance
Sugarpill's 'Love+' & UD's 'Noise'- lid
Sugarpill's 'Midori' & UD's 'Junkie'- crease
UD's 'Junkie' & 'Homegrown'- waterline
L'Oreal Voluminous Million Lashes mascara
Covergirl Line Exact liquid eyeliner

What do you guys think?
More watermelon or strawberry?
Either way, I really like the combo!
I'm having a lot of fun with this series :)

Stay tuned tomorrow for my next installment in my game of thrones series!

Sleek Acid palette & some stormy stamping

Hey everyone.
I'm pretty much done with moving for right now,
so I can get back to blogging regularly :)

I have a super bright & awesome palette & swatches for you today,
as well as some mediocre stamping.
First up, in honor of the rainy  stormy weather in TN lately-

This is Revlon's 'Dreamer' stamped with one of my new Winstonia plates :)
No, the clouds were not originally intended to be upside down,
but I figured i'd make it look intentional :P

Next up, the Acid palette!

AHHHHH love me some neons!
Perfect for summer & festival season.

Swatches:

As you can see,
some are satin shimmers & some are mattes.
The neon mattes did not seem to be as pigmented as I had expected,
but we'll see what a primer can do with them.
Still can't wait to try these babies out.

From the Vault- 'Afrodite'

So i've decided that it may finally be time to go back & revisit some of the polishes I swatched when my blog was in it's infancy, now that my pictures/painting are a bit better.
When this polish was first swatched, I didn't capture the holo well-
which is kinda the main this about this polish, wtf.
SO, here it is again!

This is HITS' 'Afrodite' from their No Olimpo collection.

'Afrodite' is a medium, rose-pink holo. I already really like this shade of pink on my hands,
and the gorgeous holo just makes it ten times better.
LOVE this series of HITS.

NEW Cocktail Makeup Series- 'Long Island Iced Tea'

Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers out there!

Now,
Yes, i have yet another new makeup series.
Being that it's finally summer time,
I wanted to do a makeup series to reflect that.
And one thing I think of when I think of summer is yummy, bright, fruity, delicious cocktails :)

When I started thinking about some of my favorite drinks,
I realized they're composed of tons of color that could really inspire some cool looks.
SO, that's the basis for my new series.
I'll do one look a week
(i'll try to do it on the same day every week, but we'll see).

FIRST UP, is my personal favorite go-to cocktail.
I don't drink liquor often (i'm a wino),
but when I do, it's an LIT.
*not my picture*

It's a pretty popular drink,
but in case you don't know what it is...

IT HAS:
- 1/2 oz of tequila, rum, triple sec, gin, vodka
- 1 oz sour mix
- cola
- lemon garnish

IT'S DELICIOUS.
So, based off the colors,
here's the look I created:

I really liked this.
It's much more subdued than the other looks i've created so far in this series,
which you have yet to see,
but I still like it. Definitely a wearable look for anyone.

I used:
Too Faced's Shadow Insurance
UD's 'Bust' & 'Nevermind'- crease
UD's 'Skimp'- brow bone
UD's 'Half Baked', Lime Crime's 'Circus Girl', SYN Cosmetics' 'Trace' & 'Down'- lid
L'Oreal Voluminous Million Lashes mascara
Covergirl Line Exact mascara

What do you guys think about this look?
ALSO, if you have any suggestions or requests for a cocktail I can create a look for,
let me know! :)

Lime Crime- 'Airborne Unicorn'

Happy Saturday!
I loved Lime Crime's opaque lipsticks so much that I had to try another one :)
So, here's 'Airborne Unicorn'!

'Airborne Unicorn' is a lovely opaque lavender shade.

*natural light*

*indoor lighting*

I am really in love with this shade, no surprise.
It's not quite as crazy as 'No She Didn't,
and I feel like I might definitely wear it out.

As awesome as this one is,
I'm not satisfied- i want more!
I've got some changes going on in my life right now, however,
and a new, super strict budget will be in order :/
So we'll see.

What do you guys think of this lipstick?

Lush Lacquer- 'Clowning Around'

I have an extremely fun polish (or topcoat, rather)
for today.
As i've said before, Lush Lacquer has some amazing neon glitter polishes
that are great for summer.
Here's my latest babeh from them-
2 coats of 'Clowning Around' over 2 coat of Essie's 'Yogaga'.

'Clowning Around' is a clear base that's packed with neon pink micro glitter, & various sizes of neon blue, yellow, orange, green, purple, & pink hex glitter.
This is without a doubt, one of my favorite new polishes.
I love the bright colors, and the fact that it can be worn over a ton of colors :)

Sleek Ultra Matte Palette swatches!

Wooooo!
Finally this bad boy came in the mail.
I've had my eye on this for awhile because of ALL the super bright shades,
and it finally came the other day.
I've never used any Sleek products before.
Have you??

Here's the palette:

jnakfjbaksfbafjk
SO. PRETTY.

Swatches! (top row):

Bottom Row:

Now, these ain't no Sugarpill,
but I was still pleased to see that it looks like pigmentation is pretty good.
The real test will be creating a look with them though.
Expect to see some bright & fun looks come summer time! :)

5/8/13

Skyrim makeup series- Wood Elf

I have the next installment in my Skyrim makeup series today.
(See the first one here).
I'm creating a look for each race of Skyrim,
and today's look is the Bosmer, or Wood Elf.

Wood Elfs are some of the best archers around,
and known for being one with nature.
Based on this information, I created my Wood Elf look.

I had fun with this look.
I love darker greens & browns,
which this look solely consists of :)

I used:
UD Primer Potion
UD's 'Urb'- browbone
UD's 'Smog' & 'Libertine'- crease
UD's 'Mildew' & 'Libertine'- lid
L'Oreal Voluminous Million Lashes mascara
Covergirl Line Exact liquid eyeliner

What do you guys think?
I'm really enjoying this series so far :)

Not Too Polished- 'The Eyrie' & beauty mail!

Hello!
I have my final Game of Thrones polish from Not Too Polished to show you today.
Here's 2 coats of 'The Eyrie' over 1 coat of Essie's 'Bikini So Teeny'.

'The Eyrie' is a bluish-lavender jelly based filled with white micro glitter, large silver holo hexes, and giant white hexes. It does it's name justice. For those who don't know, the Eyrie (homestead of the House of Arryn) is in the North of Westeros. The castle sits super high on a cliff, and as you wind your way up to it, you eventually come through snow and then finally, high above the mountain tops around you. This polish looks exactly what the Eyrie seems to me to be!

POLISH INFORMATION
Brand: Not Too Polished
Type: Jelly glitter
Formula: Good!
Opacity (1-5): 3-4
Application: Good!
Price: $7.50 for full size bottle
Get This: her Etsy site

I really liked this polish.
It's a unique color & went on great.
May definitely have to buy the other 2 GoT polishes she makes!

Side note,
more beauty mail finally came in today:

WOOOO! Can't wait to try those bright mattes.
You all definitely have some bright summer looks headed your way in the next month or so!
:)

NEWEST Maybelline Vivid Lipsticks

So you all know i'm IN. LOVE. with Maybelline's line of Vivid Lipsticks.
Welp, lo and behold,
I walked into my Walgreens just last week & there were NEW shades! :)
I only scooped up two of them (for now),
and here they are!

First up is 'Pop of Cherry'.

This is a lovely, bright red with orange undertones.
Great medium between your classic red & an orange like this one.

Next, 'Fuchsia Flash'.

This is a pretty, almost bubblegum pink.
It's basically in the middle of this pink & this pink.
:)

AS ALWAYS,
these lipsticks are fantastic quality.
Bright, wonderful color.
Great staying power.
Super soft.

GO GRAB SOME!
:D
